This project built and updates the Environment Agency‘s National Framework Model in Pywr. This models the national supply, demand and transfer network across England to help the Environment Agency assess and evaluate Water Company WRMP investment plans. We also created a web-based dashboard for the National Framework Model which has a high-level public-facing interface for transparency and a more detailed private-facing interface.
It connects to live national water resource models, and visualises future water needs for public and non-public water supply across England at multiple scales over time. It provides water stakeholders – including the public – greater visibility into the challenges and opportunities ahead.
It will continue to be used post-framework as a key interface to support ongoing engagement, and to provide a nationally consistent evidence database to help inform and influence stakeholders in the development of future regional plans and WRMP29.
