We implemented a Decision Making under Uncertainty study to identify portfolios of water resource system investments that maximize multi-sector benefits in the East of England using robust multi-objective optimisation.
The multi-criteria performance outputs characterised by hundreds of efficient portfolios and thousands of performance metrics were presented to stakeholders using a bespoke interactive web-based parallel axis portfolio viewer. Multi-sector, water utility, environmental, and regulator stakeholders and decision makers identified good performing portfolios by filtering metrics relevant to them for good performance using a web-browser.
The analysis was used to inform the sizing of two new possible storage reservoirs advancing through the planning process in East England.
